Job Advertisement: Animal Department at Furuvik Park

Do you have a burning interest in animals and nature and want to share your knowledge with our guests to enhance their understanding of our animals? Then this is your chance! We are currently looking for employees for several different roles in our animal department. You can read more about the roles below.

Animal Host

In this role, you will work closely with our guests by informing them about the animals in our facilities where the animals move freely among the guests. In addition, you will assist our animal caretakers with regular tasks related to animal husbandry such as feeding, facility maintenance, and enrichment as needed. For this role, we are looking for someone who has an ongoing or completed education in animal care, who loves animals and wants to learn more about how the animal care profession works.

Animal Caretaker

For this role, we are looking for someone with a passionate interest in animals and nature, who wants to share their knowledge while contributing to a greater understanding of the animals for our guests. Through your engagement and genuine interest in animals and service, you contribute to the guest experience and create memories that make them long to return to us. In addition to guiding and sharing knowledge about the animals, you will work with regular tasks related to animal husbandry such as feeding, facility maintenance, enrichment, and animal healthcare. As an animal caretaker, you will work partially independently, so it is important that you enjoy this role and dare to take initiative. It is essential that you have the ability to be flexible while also being stable as a person and can remain calm even when the work pace is high. We are looking for someone who has started or completed animal education at least at the high school level, with a focus on animal knowledge or equivalent. Practical experience in animal care is a merit. A B driver's license is required for this position.

Zoo Educator

In this role, you play an important function in the park by informing and educating our guests about our animals and the important conservation work that zoos conduct. This occurs through public presentations where information is provided via microphone, as well as guiding different groups and supervising the zoo schools conducted in the park. Much of the work takes place among our guests, and we are looking for someone who is passionate about engaging other people in animals and nature. You will meet everyone from families and children's groups to students taking various animal courses in high school. Therefore, we are looking for someone who has started or completed animal education at least at the high school level, with a focus on animal knowledge or equivalent. It is a merit if you have a post-secondary education in biology, zoology, and/or pedagogy. The position involves giving presentations to larger groups and supervising groups, which it is beneficial if you have experience in. It is also important that you are enthusiastic and structured in your way of working while delivering world-class service.

More about the positions

In all our animal caretaker roles, you will work partially independently, so it is important that you enjoy this and dare to take your own initiatives. Furthermore, we are looking for someone who is flexible, stable, and can remain calm when the work pace is high. The roles are seasonal positions during the period from May to the beginning of September 2026, with a chance for extension over our Halloween season. Weekend work occurs regularly. Salary according to collective agreement. We do not offer staff accommodation.
